Fat Tire Fun
Humbug Summit
The Inskip to Lake Almanor ride. At the end of the pavement on Skyway, ride on above Inskip and after a few miles of gentle climbing stay right at the fork to pick up Humbug Road and continuing straight on Humbug past the Philbrook turnoff. The road begins to follow the West Branch of the Feather River and passes a few cabins on the right. Next, you begin a short climb to Snag Lake. Continuing past Snag Lake, the road climbs again then descends into Butte Creek basin. After crossing Butte Creek you begin a steady climb to Humbug Summit. At the summit, take a break and appreciate the highest roadway in Butte County at 6,760 feet. Most of the trip from this point is a wonderful, seemingly endless descent.

Humbug Road soon forks and the Yellow Creek option to the left, is the best way to continue to Fanani Meadows. After a brief climb and a nice view of Lake Almanor to the East, there is a steady and fast descent on a fire road that is normally in excellent condition. This is GREAT FUN!!! Once you reach Fanani Meadows continue east to intersect Hwy 89 along the west shore of Lake Almanor. We usually head for the Plumas Pines Resort restaurant and relax on the deck with a cool drink.
